Once we finished
the dry-fitting exercise which proved our track plan was feasible in
real life, we began installing the track and roadbed.
As you may
remember, we're using sectional track, switches and roadbed from
Ross Custom Switches, an American-made product. We're also
using insulating pins and uncoupling tracks from Gargraves Trackage,
two more American-made products. On July 8, 2007, we finished
fitting the track and roadbed into place.

The next step
for us was screwing it down to the layout table.
To
prevent the "kettle drum" noise affect of train vibrations being
transmitted through the track and screws to the underlying plywood,
the track and roadbed is attached to the underlying Homasote
material which, in turn, was previously glued down to the plywood
using a construction adhesive.
